Flooring Local iPhone app · Last updated October 3, 2026
This policy explains how Flooring Local ("we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use the Flooring Local iPhone app and its online service (together, the "app"). We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws. Our website has its own privacy policy.
When you start using the app you are asked to accept this policy and our Terms of Use. We record the version you accepted and when.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, which you use to create your account and sign in with a one-time code.
- Photos and visualizations: the room photos you choose to upload or take in the app, the styles and colours you pick, and the images the app creates from them.
- Purchase information: which credit pack you bought, the price and currency, the App Store storefront, and Apple's transaction identifiers. Apple processes all payments; we never receive your card or bank details.
- Device verification: when you sign up, the app asks Apple's DeviceCheck service whether this iPhone has already received free credits. Apple returns a yes/no answer for this app only; it does not tell us who you are or identify your device to us.
- Quote requests: if you ask for a quote, your name, phone number, city, province, postal code (optional), project details, timeline, message, and, if you choose, the visualization you attach.
- Profile details: a name, phone number, city and province you save in the app to prefill quote requests.
- Support messages: what you send us when you contact support.
- Technical information: the app version, device model, the country of your connection, and security logs (for example sign-in attempts) that protect the service from abuse.
The app does not use advertising, third-party analytics or tracking across other companies' apps or websites, and it does not access your photo library except for the photos you pick.
2. How we use it
- To create your account, send sign-in codes and keep you signed in.
- To create your visualizations and show them to you, including before-and-after comparisons and edits built on earlier results.
- To manage your credits, deliver purchases, and process refunds that Apple reports to us.
- To give free credits fairly (once per email address and once per device) and to prevent fraud and abuse.
- To pass your quote request to a vetted local flooring expert so they can contact you, and to follow up on it.
- To answer support requests and send messages about your account (for example sign-in codes). We do not send marketing email from the app.
- To keep the service secure, reliable and working, and to meet our legal obligations.
3. How your photos are processed
To create a visualization, your photo and a description of the style you chose are sent to an AI image service provided by Google LLC (Google Cloud), which returns the edited image. We do not send your name or email address with the photo. Google processes this content to provide the service under its terms for business customers and does not use it to train its models. The result is stored in your account so you can view, save and share it.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who operate the app for us and may only use the information to provide their services: Cloudflare, Inc. (hosting, databases, file storage and sending our emails), Google LLC (AI image processing, as described above) and Apple Inc. (App Store payments, refunds and DeviceCheck).
- Local flooring experts, only when you request a quote, and only the details in that request.
- Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users, the public or Flooring Local.
- A successor, if Flooring Local is merged, sold or reorganized; this policy would continue to apply to your information.
Our service providers may store or process information in Canada, the United States and other countries. When information is outside Canada it may be accessible to authorities there under local law; we use providers bound by contractual privacy and security commitments.
5. How long we keep it
- Photos and visualizations: until you delete them in the app, or delete your account.
- Account and profile: until you delete your account.
- Sign-in codes: stored only as a one-way hash, valid for 10 minutes and erased soon after. Session keys are also stored only as hashes and expire after 180 days without use.
- Purchase records: kept as long as needed for accounting, tax and refund handling. If you delete your account, they are kept without your email or name.
- Free-credit record: a one-way hash of your email address, kept after account deletion so that deleting and re-creating an account doesn't renew free credits.
- Quote requests: kept as business records as long as needed to serve your request and meet our legal obligations.
- Security logs: kept for a limited time to protect the service.
6. How we protect it
Information is encrypted in transit and at rest. Photos and visualizations are stored privately and shown only through links that expire. Sign-in codes and session keys are stored as hashes, sign-in attempts are limited, and access to systems is restricted to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the authorities of a breach as the law requires.
7. Your choices and rights
- Delete content: remove any visualization in the app.
- Delete your account: in the app, open Account → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, photos and visualizations, as described above.
- Access and correction: you can ask for a copy of your personal information or ask us to correct it.
- Withdraw consent: you can withdraw consent to be contacted about a quote at any time.
Email hello@flooringlocal.ca for any of these. We reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
8. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. If we make a significant change, we will tell you in the app before it applies to you.
